About my work

Who I am

I'm Radu, a Romanian who grew up in China and somehow ended up finding home in the Netherlands. I'm an internal auditor by day and a writer by night, a dual life that allows me to use my professional fascination with complex systems to inform the creative ways I dismantle them on the page. My work is fuelled by the alchemy of caffeine and the magical canal views of Amsterdam. When I'm not at my desk, you can find me tackling obstacle courses, practicing martial arts, engaged in high-stakes board games with friends, and petting any dog in sight.

My writing

My writing sits at the intersection of richly built worlds and intimate, character-driven stories, the kind of fiction that takes its internal logic seriously without sacrificing emotional depth. I write epic fantasy, naturally gravitating toward stories where characters are forced to navigate sprawling empires, intricate magic systems, and ancient political structures. Ultimately, I love using that strict internal logic to play with expectations, building toward clever subversions and plot twists that feel both surprising and entirely inevitable.
